Democrat Barney Frank Reported As Supporter of Online Poker

It’s always interesting to see reports that a political figure supports online poker. Although, it may not be the most prominent political issue, poker in the Boston area received significant attention after the movie ’21′ was released. Donny Chia, a local poker enthusiast has written extensively about the latest political controversy surrounding the legalization of online gambling.
“Just few days back we reported about the State Indian Tribes’ Demand for Legalizing Online Poker in California. Now it may not be only California or some other state, but the entire nation. There is news that the Washington DC law makers are on the discussions of making online poker legal in the United States.
All young college and university poker lovers, it is time we discuss little on the issue of legalizing the online poker games in the US. There has been long period of uncertainty regarding the online poker tables.
But there is hope that there are high profile politicians who are considering the matter once again and trying to find out how the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) signed former president Mr. George W. Bush, can bring in loss to the state and also deprive lots of American citizens who love to play online poker sitting at home.
You may not be aware but the Massachusetts based Democrat Barney Frank has been a long-time campaigner for this legalization movement for online poker and has been really spear-heading the movement. He is full support for online poker and also supports full freedom of citizens to play the poker game legally. He also points out the benefits the industry can bring to the state, which is right now being reaped by foreign or alien online poker clubs situated in Europe, China, Japan, and in some parts of Canada.
There is conflict within the legal boundaries. That the UIGEA is going to be completely effective from June 1, this year and when there is another legislation that is debated to legalize and regulate the online poker games; the UIGEA would become null and void immediately.
Let us wait and see how far the prediction made by Washington Post made becomes true. It stated, “Gambling opponents say Democrats are unlikely to muster support during such a contentious year, but proponents say that changing mores and the prospect of new tax revenue give the effort a better chance than at any other time in recent memory.”
Along with Frank, there are many other prominent supporters to this legislation and legalization of movement. Some notable congressman include Richard Gephardt who is a lobbyist for PokerStars and former Republican senator Alfonse M. D’Amato, chairman of the 1.2 million member strong Poker Players Alliance.
It is reported that off shore companies as well as Poker Players Alliance and similar companies are spending large sum of money to support their cause and drum up the issue in front of lawmakers.
As ever friends, everything with poker remains uncertain. Now we have to wait see how long it takes to come to a decision regarding the laws for legalizing online poker games.
The day the law is enforced, I bet the online gambling industry, especially the online pokers websites will be jammed and there could be hang-ups due to sudden login of thousands of millions across the nation to try out legally what they refrained from due to the fear of law!”

Barney Frank supports internet gambling, isn’t that nice. To bad Barney Frank doesn’t put as much time and effort into creating jobs in the district he represents. As usual Frank forgets about the citizens in the district, and their needs. Boy, I am sure sick of Barney. Barney is up for re-election this year and will face a great challenge against Earl Sholley. Sholley will actually represent the people in the district…
